Alec Hon, cellist, has performed extensively across stages in North America and Europe. A native of Southern California, Alec has participated in numerous local competitions, and has performed with the Mount Saint Mary College Orchestra, the South Coast Symphony, and the Bellflower Symphony Orchestra. He made his Lincoln Center debut in 2017 as a winner of the Columbia University Orchestra concerto competition, performing at Alice Tully Hall. Alec has been the principal cellist of the Columbia University Orchestra, and has also been an orchestral fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School and the National Orchestra Institute and Festival. Currently, Alec plays with the Chelsea Symphony.

Alec holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Columbia University and Master’s degree from New York University in Data Science. At Columbia University, Alec was awarded the Dolan Prize, where he studied with Darrett Adkins and Patrick Jee. He has also previously studied with Ben Hong and Brinton Smith. In his free time, Alec enjoys going on road trips and hiking.
