Artistic Director Matthew Aubin leads The Chelsea Symphony in Stacy Garrop’s The Battle for the Ballot, a timely meditation on the struggle for voting rights in America. Each night showcases a different horn concerto: Friday’s performance includes Gordon Jacob’s tuneful essay, and Saturday’s concert features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s delightful Horn Concerto No. 2. Saturday’s performance also includes a concerto by the 18th-century flute virtuoso Johann Joachim Quantz. TCS Conducting Fellow Julian Gau takes the podium both nights for Ludwig van Beethoven’s paean to the natural world, the Pastoral Symphony.
