Artistic Director Matthew Aubin leads The Chelsea Symphony in Stacy Garrop’s The Battle for the Ballot, a timely meditation on the struggle for voting rights in America. Each night showcases a different horn concerto: Friday’s performance includes Gordon Jacob’s tuneful essay, and Saturday’s concert features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s delightful Horn Concerto No. 2. Saturday’s performance also includes a concerto by the 18th-century flute virtuoso Johann Joachim Quantz. TCS Conducting Fellow Julian Gau takes the podium both nights for Ludwig van Beethoven’s paean to the natural world, the Pastoral Symphony.

Johann Joachim Quantz: Concerto for Flute in G Major


Dirk Wels, a native of Weimar, Germany, enjoys a diverse performing career on flute, bassoon and recorder, both modern and historical.
