Violet Wang
Violet Wang is grateful to make her concerto debut with The Chelsea Symphony! Born and raised in Taiwan, she followed the expected rigorous path of classical music training from third grade, with very little questioning why. She graduated from National Taiwan Normal University with a major in Cello, was mentored by Ling-Yi Ou Yang, and took a minor in Piano. When a Musical Theatre Workshop held in Taipei in her college freshman year sparked her curiosity in acting, she began to see her future beyond classical music. She moved to New York City to train at Circle In The Square Theatre School, where she developed a great love for the Bard. Ironically, the more she dove into acting and script analysis, the more she missed playing chamber and orchestral music. Eventually it became less about either/or, but the necessity to keep both music and acting in her life. She found TCS simply by googling “orchestras in NYC” and has been a fan of playing with them at the DiMenna, St Paul Church, the Department of Detention and Chelsea Market. Theatre-wise, she has collaborated with some wonderful groups of talent including Barefoot Shakespeare Company, Clocktower Players, Fringe and Fur, and more. She is a current Artist In Residence at Titan Theatre Company.
She would like to thank TCS for the platform, her family and friends, Emirhan Tunca, Professor Ling-Yi Ou Yang, Thomas, and Edward Berkeley, for their love and trust over the years.
