Susan Mandel
Cellist Susan Mandel's diverse interests have led to a career focused in new music and collaboration. 2015-16 season highlights include performances at (le) Poisson Rouge, Brooklyn Bowl, Rockwood Music Hall, Webster Hall, Highline Ballroom, the Chamber Music America Conference, and The Kitchen.
As an avid chamber musician with a passion for contemporary music, Susan has performed with some of New York City’s most accomplished artists including her partnership with Kenji Haba, guitarist in their cello/guitar duo, Duo Anova, and her folk chamber-pop band, all boy/all girl. She has performed regularly and recorded with artists such as composers Matt Davis and Joey Contreras, singer/songwriters Amy Vachal, and Jihae Kim. Susan has also appeared regularly with LoftOpera and The Chelsea Symphony.
Susan is a graduate of New York University where she pursued a combination degree in Performance and Entertainment Business. She continues her graduate studies at NYU studying Performing Arts Administration. Susan hopes to dedicate her career to classical contemporary music and the future of classical music. Susan resides in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and when not studying, performing, or practicing, she can be found swimming or sight-reading string quartets with friends.www.susandmandel.com
