Nisreen Nor

Bassoon

Brooklyn native, Nisreen Nor is a freelance bassoonist experienced in orchestral, chamber and solo music. Her early love of music, passed down from her parents, led her from voice, to clarinet, and tenor saxophone, before finally settling down with the bassoon at age fifteen. Within the New York area, she has performed with a variety of orchestras and chamber ensembles including Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, Trilogy: An Opera Company, Soulful Symphony, Mimesis Ensemble, the Greenwich Village Orchestra, and the String Orchestra of Brooklyn. Nisreen has also performed with the Colour of Music Festival and Gateways Festival orchestras. Nisreen is a graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she earned her Master of Music degree. Her principal teachers include Stephen Paulson of the San Francisco Symphony, Frank Wangler, and Gail Hightower. In addition to her work as a musician, Nisreen works for the Metropolitan Opera Guild and resides in Brooklyn with her family.
