Born in Astoria, Queens, double and electric bassist Nick Lenchner grew up in northern New Jersey where he studied privately with Alexandre Tannous. He attended the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College for five years under the tutelage of Linda McKnight. He continued to work with Mrs. McKnight at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University and graduated with a degree in double bass performance. He has had additional private lessons with Robert Black, Kurt Muroki, Joe Bongiorno, and Jordan Frazier, and has performed in masterclasses for Edgar Meyer, Bertram Turetzky, Jeff Bradetich, and The Shanghai Quartet.

Nick was principal double bass of the New York Youth Symphony for three years. He also performed with the NYYS Chamber Music Program and eventually took over as program manager. He has appeared with The Chelsea Symphony, Balkan Chamber Orchestra, Gateway Classical Society, New Jersey Philharmonic, Staten Island Philharmonic, and SymphoNYC. Nick has performed at many of New York's prominent venues including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, NJPAC, Symphony Space, Park Avenue Armory, Beacon Theater, Bowery Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl, Highline Ballroom, and Le Poisson Rouge.

Nick is a founding member of the contemporary ensemble Flow State. He performs regularly in a variety of genre-spanning groups including Bellehouse, the Trevor New Ensemble, and Shy Crooner & Edwin Duke. As a member of the indie rock band Alex Bleeker & the Freaks, Nick has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada. The Freaks have been featured on Thefader.com, Paste Magazine, Relix Magazine, and Sirius XM Jam On.

Maintaining a deep passion for teaching, Nick has a substantial private studio in Northern New Jersey and NYC. He has coached various ensembles for the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program as well as the NJ Region I Orchestra bass sectionals. His private students have been accepted into the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Juilliard Pre-College, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, and NJ All State Orchestra.

Nick is also the artistic director of Saylestock, a North-Jersey based music and arts festival that has raised over $13,000 for cancer research to date.
