Nicholas Bentz (b. 1994 - Charleston, SC) is a composer, violinist, and multimedia artist whose work is drawn to remote fringes and recesses of experience. In his work he seeks to render intimately personal spaces imbued with an individual sense of storytelling and narrative. Nicholas's music has been performed by leading artists including International Contemporary Ensemble, Ensemble Dal Niente, Sandbox Percussion, and yMusic. His symphonic works have been played by Philadelphia Orchestra, Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, Charleston Symphony, Suzhou Symphony, and Chengdu Symphony, and featured at Lincoln Center, Musikverein Wien, Wigmore Hall, Kennedy Center, and the Modern Art Museum of Shanghai. His first opera, Having Guests for Dinner, has been staged by Hillman Opera, Hartford Opera Theater, New Opera West, and the University of Central Washington. Nicholas has received fellowships and held residencies at the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Atlantic Center for the Arts, among others.

Recent projects include co-commissions from Ensemble Intercontemporain and Wigmore Hall as well as a double concerto for DoSi Duo commissioned by a consortium of orchestras across Canada. Nicholas is currently a doctoral candidate at Brown University, pursuing a PhD in Music and Multimedia Composition under Anthony Cheung.
