Flutist Mira Magrill, from Edmond, OK, has performed extensively as a soloist and in chamber ensembles throughout the U.S., Denmark, Chile, Costa Rica, Italy, and China. Winner of the Stony Brook University Concerto Competition and the Music Teachers National Association Senior Woodwind Competition, she also won 2nd Prize in the National Flute Association’s 2015 Young Artist Competition, and was honored with the award of the Best Performance of Newly Commissioned Work for her rendition of Jim & John by Michael Fiday.

As Principal Flute of the YMF Debut Orchestra of Los Angeles, Mira was the featured soloist in the orchestral suite premiere of War Horse composed and conducted by John Williams. Mira currently holds the position of Second Flute/Piccolo with the Chamber Orchestra of New York and performs regularly with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and The Chelsea Symphony. She has also performed with the Pacific Symphony, the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, and the Zelda Symphony, as well as at summer music festivals including the Tanglewood Music Center, Brevard Music Center, the Round Top Festival, the Thy Chamber Festival (Denmark), and the Atlantic Music Festival.

Mira completed her Doctorate in Flute Performance at Stony Brook University, studying with Carol Wincenc. Mira runs an active teaching studio in the greater New York City area and coaches chamber music through the Stony Brook Community Music Program. Previous studies include a BFA in Flute Performance at Carnegie Mellon University, an MM in both Flute Performance and Chamber Music at the University of Michigan, and a graduate certificate at the University of Southern California. Previous teachers include Jeanne Baxtresser, Alberto Almarza, Amy Porter, and Jim Walker.
