Emily Wong
Emily Wong is a freelance hornist in the NYC metropolitan area, board member of the Look + Listen Festival, and vice president in operations at a financial services firm.
Serving as President and Executive Director of The Chelsea Symphony until 2021, she has been a consultant for and can be seen and heard alongside other members in all four seasons of the Golden Globe-winning Amazon Original Series, Mozart in the Jungle. Emily has also worked to bring the music of the orchestra to more audiences in the five boroughs; notable performance venues include Rikers Island and the American Museum of Natural History.
She has performed on the stages of Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, and Carnegie Hall and most recently in NYC with The Chelsea Symphony, String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Union City Philharmonic Orchestra, Richmond County Orchestra, and Ensemble 212. She has also performed around the city with chamber groups Gotham Winds, The Chelsea Winds, and the Metro Brass Quintet and has worked with the students of the InterSchool Orchestras of New York.
Emily has degrees in horn performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she also achieved doctoral candidacy in brass pedagogy with additional focus in music history and arts administration. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Aaron, and two cats, Laverne and Shirley.
