Dirk Wels
Dirk Wels, a native of Weimar, Germany, enjoys a diverse performing career on flute, bassoon and recorder, both modern and historical. Before relocating to New York City, he pursued studies in Berlin and later in Luxembourg, where he was principal bassoon of the Orchestre de Chambre de Luxembourg for four years. Dirk has played with ensembles such as Bacchanalia Baroque, Baroquelyn, Camerata New York, Chamber Orchestra of New York, Distinguished Concerts Orchestra, Delaware Symphony, Double Entendre Music Ensemble, Garden State Philharmonic, Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Handel+Haydn Society (Boston), La Fiocco, New England Symphonic Ensemble, New York Baroque Incorporated, Norwalk Symphony, SEM Ensemble, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra Toronto, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, Queens Consort and Washington Square Festival Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed several concerti with The Chelsea Symphony, most recently Carl Reinecke’s flute concerto.
