Hailing from the South Bronx, Dan Dunford is a multi-talented and versatile bass trombonist who performs throughout the New York metropolitan area. He plays regularly with various orchestras, ensembles, and Broadway training groups around the city and has been seen on stage at many of the most important venues in New York City including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and SymphonySpace. A former student of bass trombone legend David Taylor, Dan is well-versed in orchestral, solo, chamber, Broadway, big band, and contemporary classical performance. He is particularly interested in expanding repertoire and performance opportunities for bass trombone outside of what has traditionally been the instrument's role in the music world. In addition to his work on bass trombone, Dan also frequently performs on tenor trombone and euphonium. He hosts the weekly podcast Divergent Paths with Dan Dunford, where he interviews and converses with successful working musicians throughout the city and around the US. Additionally, Dan can be seen miming trombone with great virtuosity in the background of season two of the Amazon television show Mozart in the Jungle.
