Brian Thompson earned his MM in viola performance from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College. He serves as principal violist for The Chelsea Symphony, Light Opera of New York, and Blue Hill Troupe and plays in a variety of other ensembles ranging from Anthony Braxton’s Tri-Centric Orchestra to the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. He has premiered solo, chamber, and orchestral works by Eric Roth, Alon Nechushtan, and Whitney George, collaborated with dance companies such as Sleepdance and Jax Dance, and performs regularly at Triskelion Arts and Studio A.I.R.’s monthly experimental works showcase. Off-Broadway performances include Unlimited, Camp Wanatachi, and Oklahoma!. TV appearances include the Amazon Original series Mozart in the Jungle. When not performing, Brian is eager to share a love of music, teaching violin and viola, both on faculty of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and InterSchool Orchestras of NY, as well as maintaining a private studio in Brooklyn.
