Benjamin Louis Brody

Composer

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, now Brooklyn based, Benjamin Louis Brody has been described as one of the most progressive and multi-faceted musicians in New York City. He’s best known for creating beautiful walls of sound with ambient textures, combining post- rock and modern minimalism to create a dynamic resonance with his listeners.

Most recently, in 2018, Brody released his album, 'Far Away Music,' with UK record label Preserved Sound. The album is derived from Brody’s previous compositions, manipulated and texture-shifted hues from latent orchestral self-origin. Tiny-Mix Tapes described it as “…A space somewhat mournful, sweep and range are vast, no dividing lines, though with a subtle pulse and alterations to its density.”

In 2017, Brody collaborated with drummer Ian Chang (Son Lux, Landlady) supplying samples for the track ‘ASMR’ from Chang’s debut solo album, “Spiritual Leader.” ‘ASMR’ was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered "...he has a knack for creating other worldly sounds using different effects and techniques”- Ian Chang

Beyond his recorded material, Brody has written 8 orchestral works for the Chelsea Symphony. In 2014 he was nominated by the ASCAP/Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop faculty to receive the ASCAP Foundation Henry Mancini Music Fellowship. He’s been able to compose for several independent films including award winning short, ”The Boy Who Cried Fish,” directed by Dalia Musaad.
