Alicia Furey
Alicia Furey is a versatile cellist and music instructor with over two decades of performance and teaching experience in the Tristate area and Hudson Valley. While completing her Bachelor of Science in Music at SUNY New Paltz, Alicia maintained a busy teaching schedule in Ulster and Dutchess counties and served on the youth music faculty at Dutchess County Community College. She also performed with The Greater Newburgh Symphony orchestra and The Woodstock Chamber Orchestra during this time. After completing her Master of Music from CUNY Hunter College, Alicia joined The Chelsea Symphony as a section cellist and took on the role of principal cellist of Vari Musicisti while also growing her private lesson studio to over thirty-five students. Currently, Alicia resides on the faculty of The Virtuoso Suzuki Academy as the program’s instructor of musicianship. When she isn’t performing or teaching, Alicia can be found in the recording studio where she writes, arranges, and records music in all styles. Alicia is honored to be a member of The Chelsea Symphony and loves the challenge of playing contemporary and classical music alongside such talented colleagues and friends.
