Twenty years ago, The Chelsea Symphony’s inaugural season paired the complete Brahms symphonies with new works by up-and-coming composers. In this program, we revisit Brahms’s magisterial Fourth Symphony and present a premiere by a composer who has been with TCS since the beginning, Aaron Dai. Friday’s concert features Sergei Prokofiev’s lyrical Violin Concerto No. 1. Saturday’s program includes a rarely heard treasure, the Trumpet Concerto by Welsh composer Grace Williams.

Clyde Daley is a freelance trumpeter and teacher based in the NYC Metropolitan area. He has played at many of the city's prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Trinity Church Wall Street, and Riverside Church. In addition to playing with orchestras and opera companies, He has held chairs on several Off-Broadway shows and regularly subs on Broadway.
Conductor
Mark Seto leads a wide-ranging musical life as a conductor, scholar, teacher, and violinist. He is Artistic Director and Conductor of The Chelsea Symphony in New York City, and Associate Teaching Professor of Music at Brown University, where he directs the Brown University Orchestra and teaches courses in music history, theory, and conducting. Recent highlights include performances with violinist Itzhak Perlman, violinist Randall Goosby, clarinetist Anthony McGill, and the Martha Graham Dance Company.
