Saturday | 1.11.25 | 8:00 PM

The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, 450 West 37th Street

Antonín Dvořák’s sunny, Czech-inflected Sixth Symphony helped catapult the composer to international fame. Flare, a vibrant new work by Chelsea Symphony composition fellow Horacio Fernández, draws inspiration from Aztec mythology and the Mexican Day of the Dead. Friday’s performance features Joseph Haydn’s exquisite Cello Concerto in D Major. Saturday’s concert includes Camille Saint-Saëns’s virtuosic Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, written for the Spanish violinist Pablo de Sarasate; and Victor Herbert’s Second Cello Concerto, which inspired Dvořák to write his own iconic work in the genre.
