Clarinetist Alicia Bennett is active as a freelancer and music educator in the New York City area. Alicia plays regularly with The Chelsea Symphony and Camerata Notturna Orchestra, and as a soloist and chamber musician, has appeared in recitals and concert series in the greater New York area, New Mexico, Idaho, Banff, Canada, and Lima, Peru for one very special house concert for her late grandparents. As an educator, Alicia works as a teaching artist for the 92nd Street Y's Musical Introduction Series. As a private and group clarinet instructor and chamber coach, she is on faculty at the Bloomingdale School of Music, Turtle Bay Music School, and the 92nd Street Y. Alicia counts herself lucky to have a thriving musical community; as such, she has had the good fortune to play and premiere the music of her friends, both contemporary classical and indie rock/pop alike.
Alicia returns regularly to New Mexico to spend time with her family and to make sure her nieces and nephews don't forget her. While there, she makes sure to stock up on green chile, breathtaking views of blue skies over desert vistas, and beautiful mountain sunsets.
Alicia received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and her Master’s and Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees in clarinet performance from SUNY Stony Brook.
