Angela is an active freelance clarinetist, music educator, and Zumba® instructor based in New York City.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Angela received a B.A. in Clarinet Performance and Music Education from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.A. in Clarinet Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she received the Performer’s Certificate, the highest prize in performance. While at Eastman, Angela also won both the Jack L. Frank Award for Excellence in Community Teaching and the Teaching Assistant Prize for her work as an educator, additionally earning an Arts Leadership Certificate for her work in arts administration.

Angela will perform at The International Double Reed Society with her trio, Reeds Amis, to present and perform the unpublished works of Fernande Decruck in Tokyo this August. In July, 2014, and in June, 2012 Angela was invited to Sweden to perform as a Guest Artist with Quartet Kalos and Ensemble Evolution as part of the Double It Tour and the Midnight Sun Music Festival. Quartet Kalos will reunite in Boston and New York for a series of performances in August. In May 2012, Angela premiered “Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra,” dedicated to her by composer Seth Bedford, with the Chelsea Symphony. She looks forward to performing the Arite Shaw Clarinet Concerto with the Chelsea Symphony during their 10th anniversary season in the fall of 2015.

In addition to performing regularly with the Chelsea Symphony and the Reeds Amis chamber trio, she has enjoyed working with the New Yorker Ensemble, the Phoenix Ensemble, the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, the Ohio Light Opera Company, the International Opera Theatre Company of Italy, the American Wind Symphony Orchestra, the Point Chamber Orchestra, the Syracuse Symphony, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's Chamber Ensemble. She has performed at La Fenice in Venice, the United Nations, the Library of Congress, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall.

A dedicated educator, Angela has extensive experience teaching both private and group clarinet lessons. She is currently a Lead Teacher with the Harmony Program where she works with clarinet students and teachers in underserved communities of New York City. Additionally, Angela teaches group theory classes to young music students at Mannes PREP, a division of The New School.

Beyond performing and teaching, Angela serves as Director of Performing and Educational Events for In The Pocket NYC, a collective of teaching musicians who have come together to help invigorate New York City’s Arts Education Community with benefit events, innovative performances, and exceptional music instruction.

Her passions for international music, rhythms, dance, and fitness led Angela to Zumba® in 2006 and her love for teaching motivated her to become a certified instructor. Angela is certified in Zumba B1, B2, Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr. Additionally, Angela is a certified AFAA® (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) Group Fitness Instructor and a Certified Professional Rescuer according to the CPR/AED® guidelines.
