Tickets available at Eventbrite. A program of American composers for our first series at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music! Featuring guest artist Weiyin Chen at the piano for George Gershwin’s beloved Rhapsody in Blue, a fusion of classical music and jazz effects. We will be taken on an excursion with Gerard Schwarz’s orchestral tone poem, A Journey, for its NYC premiere. The orchestra’s own Angela Shankar will introduce us into the world of jazz with Artie Shaw’s virtuosic Clarinet Concerto and a world premiere piece by TCS composer-in-residence Aaron Dai entitled Allegretto Giocoso will open the concert.

Premium advanced purchased tickets for best available seating in a reserved area are available on Eventbrite for $25.

Tickets are also available at the door for a suggested donation of $20.

This concert will be held at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, 450 W. 37th St.

Artie Shaw: Concerto for Clarinet


The daughter of two musicians from her native Cleveland, Ohio, Angela Shankar is a performer and educator in New York City.

Active in the musical theater world, she recently played flute, clarinet and saxophones on the award-winning musical “Harmony,” written by Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman. She’s currently subbing at “The Music Man” on Broadway, and this past holiday season was in the Radio City Music Hall orchestra for the “Christmas Spectacular” show featuring the Rockettes.
