Seth Rudetsky!!!

TCS is thrilled to announce Seth Rudetsky as our guest narrator on our annual performance of The Night Before Christmas by TCS Resident Composer Aaron Dai!

Seth is an Emmy nominated Broadway fixture with serious shows under his belt such as Les Misérables, The Producers, and Ragtime. He has been the music director for some of the biggest stars on the Great White Way: Audra, Kristen, Idina, Patti - the list goes on and on! The Chelsea Symphony is so pleased to have Seth as our guest narrator this year.

The Night Before Christmas is based on a poem by Clement Clarke Moore, "A Visit from St. Nicholas," for his children in 1822. Moore lived with his family on his large country estate called "Chelsea," which extended from what is now 18th Street to 24th Street, and 8th Avenue to 10th Avenue in Manhattan. A large hill, no longer in existence, stood on the corner of 21st Street and 9th Avenue and was the site of his country manse. Many images that we now consider Christmas iconography are taken from "A Visit from St. Nicholas," including the imagery of Santa Claus and his reindeer.

We look look forward to seeing you at our tenth annual holiday concert at 8pm on Friday, December 4, at St. Paul's Church (315 West 22nd Street)! Hear The Night Before Christmas and check out more Seth Rudetsky with his newest book, Seth's Broadway Diary, Volume 2, released in October 2015, and his YA novel The Rise and Fall of a Theater Geek, available now from Random House. All of Seths "deconstructing" videos can be seen on SethRudetsky.com - and be sure to keep an eye out for the critically acclaimed new musical Disaster!, a 1970s disaster movie musical written by and co-starring Seth, to begin performances at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre on February 9th, 2016.

See you at the show!
